LA Arboretum

I love reflections (which reminds me I need to look for another reflections photo taken in downtown LA). If I remember correctly, the day I took this the pond was quite green, so getting this type of reflection of the sky and tree made it look better than it actually was at the time.

Interesting thing about cameras and the people who operate them - while it's true that the camera doesn't lie - it only records what is put in front of it - the camera operator, through lighting, selective framing and focusing can create an impression of a scene that is quite different from what is actually there. And this is all before it gets into Photoshop, where it can become anything at all! I guess the moral of this story is don't believe everything you see.

LA Arboretum

This was taken at the LA Arboretum. I was playing around with shooting moving water at a slow shutter speed to get that foggy, foamy effect. Didn't quite get there, but I like the results just the same.

L. A. Buildings

This was from one of my downtown L.A. photo safaris. I was just walking down the street looking for the next photo when I looked up at the building I was next to and saw this reflection. I took several shots from different angles, this one turned out best.

Huts

This was taken at the L.A. Arboretum may years ago. This was a set left over from the original Fantasy Island, which used to film there. Oddly enough, this photo works better in black and white than in color. The lake was very green at the time I shot this (algae), which detracted from the idyllic lagoon setting. I took other shots where I was standing inside the treeline, but I like this one the best because it almost looks like the viewer is hiding behind the trees and spying on the huts. The trees give it an added dimension.
